MEfDA aims to support communities and emerging economies benefit through minerals and energy stewardship. The Strategic Framework guides MEfDA’s program to achieve this. It summarises the empowerment approach of investing in individual partners as the creators of change in complex environments.
The Framework draws on the latest understanding of development entrepreneurship and distributed leadership approaches. The implementation of the integrated program combines knowledge exchange activities with leadership development, providing more effective opportunities to realise significant outcomes. The Framework provides an outcomes focus for MEfDA activities, integrating specific support to achieve inclusive benefits for men, women and children as well as mitigating negative outcomes for vulnerable groups.
Guiding principles support the application of the framework providing MEfDA a compass for implementing an emergent approach. These principles reflect the independence and academic rigour of the University partners, and draw on Doing Development Differently Manifesto, and the Women’s Empowerment Principles.
